It is unfortunate that people who must harbor some type of secret agenda come out in droves, actively and loudly, protesting the American citizen's right to bear arms following mass shootings and other forms of violence where guns are involved. The blame, for them, is always, always on the gun. And, that hysteria is not only unwarranted...it is not even close to correct.
That these shootings have occurred is tragic, a horror to family and friends of the victims.
However, in order to solve the problem it is necessary to identify the correct cause. And, it is not the gun.
People who use that logic, i.e. naming the weapon as the cause, should just as easily and quickly blame a knife for a stabbing, and then call for banning knives. When a vehicle is involved in a fatal auto accident where is the cry to rid us of cars. What about common tools, such as a hammer. It has been said that there are 400 times more murders committed by hammers than by guns. While that may or may not be true, there have been numerous heinous murders utilizing that instrument. Yet, hammers can be purchased by anyone at any age.
The fact of the matter remains that it is a person behind each of these acts, regardless of the method employed.
Where there is information available, in over 20 documented cases, it shows that each of those people using a gun in a mass murder were either on or coming off of psychotic drugs. That should be thoroughly and completely investigated and then Big Pharma should, at least partially, be held accountable.
The possible side effects of some of the more widely used prescribed drugs are: Suicidal tendencies and actions. Aggressive or hostile behavior. Delusions. Mania. Violent behavior. Mood swings. Psychotic episodes. And on and on.
There have been countless lawsuits filed, and numerous that have been settled out of court, against pharmaceutical companies, many of which have exposed the fact that drug companies hide some of the side effects that may come about due to their use. Yet, there is far more media about banning guns than banning drug companies and drugs.
The sanity concerning gun control will only be able to occur when the proponents of ridding law-abiding citizens of their guns open their minds to receive facts instead of someone's agenda.
It must be remembered that one of the worst tyrants in history took weapons away from citizens and also slaughtered over six million defenseless Jewish people. An armed populace can defend themselves and their families as well as help avert tyranny. Our Founding Fathers knew this. They were very specific when they said that right shall not be infringed.

The entertaining and informative In Search of Liberty movie is a great refresher (if it's been a while) or educational tool (for those who know very little) about our U.S. Constitution, and is a movie that All Americans should watch.
