Regardless of what you choose to believe about the origins and the potential dangers of, and the cure for, COVID-19...one thing is certain: state and local politicians have been eviscerating our unalienable and Constitutionally-guaranteed rights.
While it is true there have been Federal mandates and guidelines concerning COVID-19, those measures pale in comparison.
There are violations of our rights happening all across America. So much so that it makes one wonder why this did not occur during the H1N1/09 swine flu pandemic of 2009. However, that must remain a topic for another day.
The orders to stay inside our homes and dictating a limit on the number of people to gather violates our right "of the people peaceably to assemble." Many areas have banned churches from remaining open, thus "prohibiting the free exercise thereof" (our religion). Both of these trash our First Amendment.
Thousands of businesses nationwide, being deemed "non-essential," have been ordered closed, thus depriving business owners of liberty, and brushing aside our Fifth Amendment right to "due process."
"Equal protection under the law" for business owners and their employees, as guaranteed in our Fourteenth Amendment, got dumped when they were deemed non-essential and ordered to close down.
There are probably others not listed above.
Speaking of "non-essential"...Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA, has asked why Congress is still collecting a paycheck and benefits when their recent "essential" actions are alleged insider stock trading and wasting We the People tax money on the pork that is inside the relief package for such things as PBS, NPR, the Kennedy Center, etc., especially when many of them called President Trump racist back in January for shutting down travel to and from China and taking other actions, well ahead of anything they ever thought about doing.
But, I digress.
Keep in mind, that Article VI of our U.S. Constitution specifically states:
"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution."
State officials, etc., are bound by "Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution." Some states have violated this by issuing Executive Orders (EO) that are in direct conflict with our U.S. Constitution.
Other states have allowed local authorities to violate our rights without stepping in to ensure our freedoms remain intact.
Fortunately, there are reports from some Sheriff's offices that they will not follow these EOs to the letter, meaning that they will not stop and ask every driver of a vehicle on the road why they are out and about, etc. Thank God we have some defenders of our rights still around!
And, let's not even start discussing a "mandatory vaccine" some people are advocating, including one who says there should be no mass gatherings until mass vaccinations have been completed.
That is the proverbial "drawing a line in the sand."
Sorry, folks. My body. My choice.
Indeed, as we all know, these are trying times.
As law-abiding Citizens we have been following these mandates, though we know they violate our rights.
The real test of this whole devastating issue, however, will be making sure that each and every EO or directive that is and has been dictated and enforced upon us during whatever period of time this pandemic covers is fully and forever repealed and/or outlawed.
To ensure your state and local officials do this, make sure you, your family and friends all know what rights we do have that should not be limited or diminished or eliminated.
In order to ensure that we keep our Freedom, our Liberty, our Rights, we must remain true to our U.S. Constitution.
And we must demand that those elected to represent us do the same! Or, they must be expelled from office.
Arm yourself with knowledge of our U.S. Constitution!
